Henry Ford Allegiance Health appoints Dr. Mark Smith CMO: 3 takeaways

Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson, Mich., selected Mark Smith, MD, to serve as senior vice president, medical affairs and CMO. He will also serve as CEO of Henry Ford Allegiance Medical Group.

Here are three takeaways:

1. Dr. Smith served in a number of leadership roles at Henry Ford Allegiance Health, including chief of staff and chairman/medical director of the emergency department since 2008 and vice president of operations.

2. He also serves on the organization's board of trustees as well as its finance and system integration committees.

3. He succeeds Ray King, MD, who has transitioned to Jackson (Mich.) Health Network and its health improvement organization.
