HCA Healthcare has named longtime nursing leader Erica Rossitto, BSN, RN, as senior vice president and chief nurse executive. Her appointment is effective Feb. 1, the Nashville, Tenn.-based system said in a Jan. 15 news release.
Ms. Rossitto has worked with HCA for 25 years, most recently serving as senior vice president and assistant chief nurse. She started her healthcare career as a nurse at HCA HealthOne Swedish in Englewood, Colo. In her most recent role, Ms. Rossitto led efforts to improve emergency, trauma and surgical services, enhance the patient experience and support leadership development.
As CNO of the 191-hospital, multistate system, Ms. Rossitto will have oversight of 100,000 nurses, leading efforts to advance nursing practice and patient care delivery.
“Erica is an accomplished and respected leader who brings a deep understanding of nursing and clinical operations to this role,” Sam Hazen, CEO of HCA Healthcare, said in the release. “I’m confident her demonstrated ability to unite teams, strengthen nursing leadership and drive innovation will continue to help support nurses and elevate patient care.”
She succeeds Sammie Mosier, BSN, RN, who died suddenly in December. Ms. Mosier served as HCA’s chief nurse executive for four years. During her nearly 30-year career at the system, she was known for championing front-line caregivers, elevating nursing voices in policy and expanding support for early-career nurses.
