Gainesville, Fla.-based HCA Florida North Florida Hospital named Stephanie Tijerina COO, effective Oct. 5.
Ms. Tijerina joins from HCA Florida Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, where she served as COO, according to an Oct. 7 news release. She also led Northside as interim CEO from May through July during a CEO transition.
At Northside, Ms. Tijerina helped grow surgery, cardiovascular and neuroscience services. She also directed more than $21 million in capital improvement and facility modernization projects. After Hurricane Milton, she helped carry out the temporary relocation of a regional transplant program, which supported 16 organ transplants.
Ms. Tijerina has more than 19 years of healthcare leadership experience. She has served in the U.S. Navy Reserve since 2012 and is currently a commanding officer and healthcare administrator.
North Florida Hospital is part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare. As COO, Ms. Tijerina will support day-to-day operations, strategic initiatives and growth at the hospital.
