HCA Florida hospital CEO retires

Brian Melear, RN, CEO of HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, has retired after nearly 27 years with the hospital.

Mr. Melear joined the hospital in 1999 as a patient care assistant and later served in several clinical and leadership roles, including nurse, charge nurse, director of surgical services and chief nursing officer, according to a hospital news release shared with Becker’s on March 10.

He served as CEO for the past decade. During his tenure, Mr. Melear oversaw several facility investments, including development of a four-story medical office building and an emergency department expansion project scheduled to begin in June.
