Gwinnett Medical Group appoints chief physician executive: 4 things to know

Lawrenceville, Ga.-based Gwinnett Medical Group has appointed Bedri Yusuf, MD, vice president and chief physician executive, according to a Gwinnett Daily Post report.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Yusuf.

1. The position he is stepping into is a new one for the medical group, which is an affiliate of Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, according to the report.

2. In his new role, he is expected to focus on the quality, safety, care standards, clinical resource utilization, provider behaviors, alignment and performance management and clinical transportation, hospital officials said, according to the report.

3. Previously, Dr. Yusuf was vice president of the medical staff at Gwinnett Medical and co-director of its hospitalist program.

4. He earned a medical degree from Addis Ababa University in Gondor, Ethiopia, and received a master's degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst's Isenberg School of Management.
