Here are five things to know about Ms. Bartels.
1. As CFO, Ms. Bartels will continue to oversee the financial risk mitigation and reporting for Gundersen’s 19 entities, maintain internal controls and contribute to the system’s strategic planning.
2. Ms. Bartels joined Gundersen six years ago as a director in finance. She transitioned to system controller in 2011 and then executive director of finance in 2013.
3. Previously, she worked for UnityPoint Health (formerly Iowa Health System) based in Des Moines, Iowa, as senior internal auditor and controller for one of the hospital systems.
4. All total, she has more than 16 years of experience in health systems and public accounting.
5. Ms. Bartels is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Medical Group Management Association.
