Granite Falls Municipal Hospital and Manor names Thomas Kooiman CEO: 6 things to know

The Granite Falls (Minn.) Municipal Hospital and Manor has named Thomas Kooiman CEO.

Here are six things to know about Mr. Kooiman.

1. He will begin the job Nov. 16.

2. He will fill the vacancy left by retiring CEO George Gerlach.

3. Mr. Kooiman has more than 23 years of healthcare experience.

4. Most recently, he served as CEO of Prairie Ridge Hospital and Health Services in Elbow Lake, Minn.

5. Previously, Mr. Kooiman was a long-term care administrator with the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, a nonprofit provider of senior care and services based in Sioux Falls, S.D., and was COO of Paynesville (Minn.) Area Hospital and Health Services.

6. He earned a bachelor's degree in business finance and marketing from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minn., and a master's degree in healthcare and hospital administration from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
