Grady Health System Hires New CFO to Help With Turnaround

Grady Health System in Atlanta, which is expected to lose $30-$40 million this year, has hired Sue McCarthy to be its new CFO, according to a report from Public Broadcasting Atlanta.

Ms. McCarthy and Grady CEO Michael Young, who has been at Grady for just a year, were CFO and CEO, respectively, of Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y., where they took the hospital from $30 million annually in operating losses in 2005 to a $17 million profit in 2007.

Former Grady CFO Michael Ayres is leaving to oversee finances at Cook County Health and Hospitals System in Chicago.
