Jason Barrett has been named CEO of The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., effective Aug. 18.
He will also serve as group vice president of the District of Columbia market, overseeing the recently opened Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health, according to a July 29 hospital news release.
Mr. Barrett brings more than 25 years of healthcare experience to the role. Mr. Barrett joined King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services — the hospital’s parent company — in 2023 as CEO of Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo.
He will succeed Kimberly Russo, who held the role for nine years before being appointed CEO of the central region for Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare in April.
