Kimberly Russo was appointed CEO of the central region for Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare, effective April 28.

Ms. Russo most recently served as CEO of George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., a role she held for nine years, and as group vice president for the D.C. Region of Universal Health Services.

She is credited in a health system news release with playing a role in the expansion of ambulatory assets and the construction of a new hospital in partnership with the Government of the District of Columbia.

In her new role, she succeeds Bob Anderson, who retired in January.

OSF HealthCare is a 17-hospital system. The central region covers the greater Peoria area and surrounding communities.
