Geisinger names Dr. David Vawdrey chief data informatics officer: 4 notes

Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System has appointed David K. Vawdrey, PhD, chief data informatics officer.

Four notes:

1. Dr. Vawdrey has served on the faculty at New York City-based Columbia University’s department of biomedical informatics since 2007.

2. He was the founding director of NewYork-Presbyterian’s Value Institute in New York City, overseeing a team responsible for enterprise analytics, quality measurement and EHR integration.

3. He earned his PhD in biomedical informatics at Salt Lake City-based University of Utah.

4. In his new role, Dr. Vawdrey will focus on implementing technologies and harmonizing data in clinical care, research and health plans.
