Dr. Steele, who is also president of Geisinger, announced in July his plans to retire from both positions by the end of June 2015. The board expects to name his successor by March or April.

According to the report, Frank Trembulak, executive vice president and COO of Geisinger Health System, the board will interview three to four candidates — each practicing physicians — next Wednesday during a Geisinger Authority meeting.

The report did not name the candidates.
