Frye Regional Medical Center names third CEO in 27 months

Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, N.C., has appointed Mark Benz to serve as the hospital’s third CEO in the last 27 months, according to a report in the Hickory Record.

Mr. Benz will replace Steve Patonai, who stepped down in October 2014.

Most recently, Mr. Benz served as regional vice president at CRC Health in Philadelphia, where he was responsible for the company’s eastern region of healthcare systems. Additional past roles include division project CEO at Community Health Systems in Franklin, Tenn., president and CEO of Community Health System’s Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville, Pa., and president and CEO of Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Ill.

Mr. Benz holds a master’s degree from Arizona State University.
