Former Ky. governor joins Baptist Health Paducah: 3 things to know

Former Kentucky Gov. Martha Layne Collins (D) has been named foundation executive-in-residence at Baptist Health Paducah (Ky.) and Baptist Health Foundation Paducah, according to a Western Kentucky Star report.

Here are three things to know about Gov. Collins.

1. In her new role, she will participate in community initiatives and events supporting the hospital's mission and donor relationships, according to the report.

2. She was Kentucky's first and only female governor, serving from 1983 to 1987. 

3. Previously, she was also clerk of the Kentucky Court of Appeals and Kentucky Supreme Court, and lieutenant governor under Gov. John Y. Brown, Jr, according to the report.

4. Her other roles have included: president of St. Catharine (Ky.) College from 1990 to 1996 and executive scholar-in-residence at Georgetown (Ky.) College from 1998 to 2012.
