The charges are in connection with dealings with his former employer, Danbury (Conn.) Hospital. The complaint against him is sealed, so it is unclear exactly what actions the charges were related to.
Mr. Roe was first charged with wire fraud and interstate transport. The witness tampering and obstruction charges were filed after emails from Mr. Roe to John Murphy, MD, CEO at Danbury Hospital were released to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, according to the report.
According to the emails, Mr. Roe changed the appraised value of his home to a higher value, and it appears Mr. Roe’s contract with his former employer included some payment by the hospital for housing costs.
