Former Elliot Health System CEO comes out of retirement to lead organization once again

Manchester, N.H.-based Elliot Health System appointed Doug Dean interim CEO, according to a New Hampshire Union Leader report.

Mr. Dean, a former Elliot CEO, came out of retirement to lead the health system.

Mr. Dean retired as president and CEO of the health system in 2014. He served as a consultant for the health system's board while retired. He will now lead the organization on an interim basis while the board continues to search for a replacement.

Mr. Dean takes over from Gary Muller who left the post after approximately one month as interim CEO.

He plans on expanding services at the health system and will  help decide whether Manchester-based Elliot Hospital should be replaced or renovated.

Mr. Dean's appointment comes after talks of a potential affiliation between Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Elliot fell through. The affiliation could have helped Elliot pay for a new hospital facility or renovate the existing one.
