Emory Healthcare selects CEO for 3 hospitals: 5 notes

Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare named Matt Wain CEO of Emory University Hospital, Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital and Emory University Hospital at Wesley Woods, effective Aug. 19.

Emory University Hospital and Emory University Hospital at Wesley Woods are in Atlanta; Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital is in Tucker, Ga.

Five notes:

1. Mr. Wain is COO of Medical University of South Carolina Health in Charleston.

2. He is an adjunct faculty member at the MUSC College of Health Professions, also in Charleston.

3. He previously worked at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa., where he served in several leadership roles, including chief administrative officer.

4. Mr. Wain was an active duty military officer and Blackhawk helicopter pilot.

5. He succeeds Bryce Gartland, MD, who was promoted to president of Emory Healthcare’s Hospital Group.
