Elaine Thompson, PhD. President and CEO of Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Health. Dr. Thompson joined Lakeland Regional Health in 2010, after serving for four years as president of Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, Pa., where she led a 100-percent improvement in annual income from operations in two years; developed an academic partnership with Drexel University in Philadelphia; and established a formal diversity program, among other accomplishments. Upon arriving at Lakeland, Dr. Thompson led an effort to put the hospital on a single EHR. Dr. Thompson holds a doctorate in biomedical science from Philadelphia-based Drexel University and a master’s in physical therapy from Temple University in Philadelphia.
