East Orange General Hospital names Martin Bieber interim president, CEO

Martin A. Bieber, CPA, has been named interim president and CEO of East Orange (N.J.) General Hospital, effective immediately.

Mr. Bieber has 40 years of healthcare experience. Most recently, he served as CEO of the three-hospital Kennedy Health System, based in Voorhees, N.J., until retiring in October 2013. Prior to his role at Kennedy, Mr. Bieber held executive positions at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, N.Y., St. Francis Hospital in Flower Hill, N.Y., and Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.

Mr. Bieber will lead the hospital as it merges into Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings. EOGH said it will continue to search for a permanent president and CEO.

Mr. Bieber succeeds Kevin Slavin in the interim. Mr. Slavin recently left EOGH to become CEO of St. Joseph’s Healthcare System in Paterson, N.J.
