7 executives leave Metro Health as it pursues CHS affiliation

Seven executives, including the COO who was hired in May, have left Wyoming, Mich.-based Metro Health, according to a recent report.

Metro Health is pursuing a strategic partnership with Brentwood, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems that would lead to the sale of 70 percent of Metro to CHS. Metro Health has done some restructuring at the senior leadership level in preparation for the transaction, according to the report.

Metro Health Spokeswoman Ellen Bristol said, “Consequently, we received resignations from some individuals.”

Ms. Bristol confirmed the following people left Metro Health:

  • Svetlana Dembitskaya, COO
  • David Duffey, DO, executive vice president and CMO
  • Tim Susterich, CFO
  • Ingrid Cheslek, executive vice president of patient care services and CNO
  • Christine Lawrence, vice president of compliance
  • Helen Berghoef, vice president of ancillary and emergency services
  • Erika Duncan, vice president of human resources

According to the report, Mary Marks has been named interim CNO.
