Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Peters led the hospital for 15 years, starting his tenure in 2002.
2. He joined the hospital in 2000 as medical director.
3. While he served as CEO, the hospital became Louisiana’s first Magnet-designated hospital and also entered into an affiliation with Houston-based MD Anderson Cancer Center.
4. Dr. Peters led the hospital through the fallout from Hurricane Katrina.
5. Raymond DeCorte, MD, senior vice president and CMO, will serve as interim CEO until the hospital finds a replacement.
