Dr. Richard Lofgren to be sole CEO at UC Health as system changes management structure: 6 things to know

Cincinnati-based UC Health is reshaping its management structure, according to a report from The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Here are six things to know about the system's plans.

1. As of Dec. 1, UC Health CEO Richard Lofgren, MD, will be the only CEO leading the health system. He will be the only UC Health executive to hold a CEO position, according to the report, which cites an email from hospital officials.

2. The system's plans include eliminating leadership positions for University of Cincinnati Medical Center and West Chester (Ohio) Hospital.

3. According to The Cincinnati Enquirer, Lee Ann Liska, UC Medical Center president and CEO and UC Health senior vice president, is leaving UC Health "to pursue other leadership opportunities."

4. Ms. Liska, who joined UC Health in 2013, will work actively with the health system through the end of 2015, officials said.

5. Other changes include:

  • Bill Hurford, MD, will be CMO.
  • Pete Gilbert will be COO.
  • Nita Walker, MD, will be senior vice president for ambulatory services.
  • Kevin Joseph, MD, as interim senior vice president for inpatient services.
  • Jen Jackson as interim chief administrative officer of UC Medical Center.
  • Tom Daskalakis as interim chief administrative officer of West Chester Hospital.
  • Amy Schroyer as chief administrative officer of Hartwell, Ohio-based Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care.

6. Dr. Lofgren described the new management structure as one that is "most efficient, effective and best supports our effort to provide the highest quality clinical care and personal service for our patients," according to the report.
