Dr. Patrick Battey tapped as next Piedmont Atlanta Hospital CEO: 3 things to know

Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare has chosen Patrick Battey, MD, as the next CEO of Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

Here are three things to know about Dr. Battey.

1. Dr. Battey, a vascular surgeon, has been serving as co-CEO with Piedmont Atlanta President and Co-CEO Les Donahue. Dr. Battey has been in the role since the beginning of the year, and he will take the helm fully on Jan. 1, 2016 when Mr. Donahue retires at the end of 2015. 

2. Dr. Battey served as interim CEO of Piedmont Healthcare before the arrival of current Piedmont Healthcare CEO Kevin Brown, and has been on staff at PiedmontAtlantaHospital since 1985.

3. In his new role as CEO of Piedmont Atlanta, Dr. Battey said his vision “is to have Piedmont Atlanta function in its historic role as a pillar of the Atlanta community. (sic) To offer the highest quality patient-centered care, to make our patients better when ill and to keep them in good health when not.”
