Dr. Bruce Meyer is Jefferson Health’s inaugural chief physician executive

Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health hired Bruce A. Meyer, MD, to serve as chief physician executive, a new position. Dr. Meyer has also been named senior executive vice president of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

Dr. Meyer will come to Jefferson Health in the fall from Dallas-based University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he served as executive vice president for health systems affairs and CEO of its accountable care network. He also led Southwestern Health Resources, a population health services company born of a public-private partnership between UT Southwestern and Arlington, Texas-based Texas Health Resources.

Previously, Dr. Meyer was chair of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Worcester-based University of Massachusetts Medical School and president of UMass Memorial Medical Group.

He authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and has won the Press Ganey Pinnacle Award of Excellence in Patient Experience five years consecutively.
