Novant Health, HealthSouth name CEO of rehab hospital JV: 3 things to know

Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health and HealthSouth in Birmingham, Ala., selected Anita Prendergast to helm a joint inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Winston-Salem.

Here are three things to know.

1. Ms. Prendergast, an employee of Novant Health for more than 19 years, will become CEO of the future 68-bed rehabilitation hospital.

2. Novant Health and HealthSouth formed a joint venture July 15, 2016, to build the rehabilitation hospital. It will offer inpatient care to patients who experienced a stroke, trauma, brain injury, complex orthopedic conditions or other major illnesses or injuries.

3. Ms. Prendergast earned a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from The Ohio State University in Columbus and a master’s degree in health administration from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant.
