Ms. Caldwell, who has served at the helm of the medical center for the past four years, is leaving “to pursue other opportunities,” a statement to The Desert Sun notes. During her tenure, the hospital launched its first medical residency program. She worked on the board of the Desert AIDS Project in Palm Springs as well as the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce. She came to Desert Regional from Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Mo., where she also served as CEO.

Michele Finney will oversee the hospital until a permanent replacement is identified. Ms. Finney is CEO of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare’s three-hospital desert market, which includes Desert Regional Medical Center, according to the report.
