David Bender is Gouverneur Hospital’s new CEO: 5 notes

Potsdam, N.Y.-based St. Lawrence Health System named David Bender CEO of Gouverneur (N.Y.) Hospital.

Here are five notes:

1. Mr. Bender serves as vice president of strategic planning and business development for St. Lawrence Health System. The hospital did not specify if he will continue in these roles in addition to serving as CEO.

2. Prior to St. Lawrence Health System, Mr. Bender was a senior strategy consultant with consultancy firm OptumInsight, where he most recently served in the accountable care solutions practice.

3. Previously, he was a principal in Ernst and Young’s health sciences advisory services practice.

4. Mr. Bender replaces Marlinda L. LaValley, who has served as Gouverneur Hospital’s CEO from the time it opened in December 2013.

5. Ms. LaValley will resume her former duties as vice president of administrative services for St. Lawrence Health System’s Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
