Dr. Foster joins the hospitals from Johnson Health Center in Lynchburg, Va., where he has served as interim chief medical officer since March, according to a Dec. 9 news release from Dartmouth Health.

Previously, he was senior vice president and chief physician executive at Lynchburg-based Centra Health.

In his new dual role, Dr. Foster will oversee operations and initiatives across both hospitals, including financial management, regulatory and legal compliance, and patient safety, the release said.

“Both Mount Ascutney and Valley Regional are pillars of health and support in their respective communities, and their shared mission and dedication to serving the people of our region lend themselves to a natural and impactful partnership,” Dr. Foster said in a Dec. 9 open letter of greetings. “By working together, these two hospitals will strengthen their ability to provide a comprehensive range of services — from emergency care to rehabilitation — ensuring that high-quality care remains accessible to all who need it.”
