Fernando Petry, DO, the health system’s chief medical officer, will exit Oct. 1. He has served as CMO of Stuart, Fla.-based Martin Health since 2015 and assisted with the integration process when Martin Health merged with Cleveland Clinic in 2019.

Dr. Petry’s departure is due to “recent organizational changes,” according to a tip shared with Becker’s. Cleveland Clinic confirmed these changes in a prepared statement, but did not elaborate on specifics.

“Cleveland Clinic has grown significantly over the past several years. To better support our current footprint and plan for tomorrow’s growth, we are evolving our operating model,” the health system told Becker’s. ”The changes aim to better align services across all of our locations and ensure our structure and care is consistent as we continue to grow.  While patients should feel no changes, our updated structure enables better sharing of best practices and enhanced safety, quality and patient experience across all of our locations.”

Dr. Petry’s exit comes less than one week after an announcement that Christopher Soska, the health system’s chief operating officer, had taken a new role as president of Marshfield (Wis.) Clinic Health System’s Wausau-Weston Region and River Region.
