Children's Minnesota names chief equity and inclusion officer: 3 takeaways

Minneapolis-based Children's Minnesota selected James Burroughs to serve as chief equity and inclusion officer, according to a Star Tribune report.

Here are three takeaways:

1. Mr. Burroughs previously served as chief inclusion officer within Gov. Mark Dayton's administration.

2. He has prior experience as a lawyer, corporate consultant and executive director of Minneapolis Public Schools.

3. In his new role, Mr. Burroughs will focus on ensuring racially diverse hiring at Children's, including increasing hiring of LGBT and disabled workers. He also hopes to up the number of women and minority-owned businesses that serve as the hospital's suppliers.
