Children’s Hospital Los Angeles names inaugural chief innovation officer: 5 notes

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles selected Omkar P. Kulkarni to serve as chief innovation officer, a newly created role, effective May 7.

Here are five notes:

1. Mr. Kulkarni formerly served as executive director of the Cedars-Sinai Accelerator, which he helped establish.

2. He also has years of experience leading the performance improvement department at Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

3. He holds a master’s degree in public health and healthcare management from New York City-based Columbia University.

4. In his new role, Mr. Kulkarni will be responsible for encouraging innovation across CHLA’s clinical and research enterprises.

5. He will also work with the Consortium for Technology and Innovation in Pediatrics, created by CHLA in collaboration with Los Angeles-based University of Southern California.
