Although health system officials have declined to comment on the reason behind the medical leave, several sources have confirmed to the Observer that Mr. Nagowski, who is 54 years old, suffered a major health issue within the last 10 days.
“We wish Mike well, and we look forward to having him back at the health system,” a health system statement, obtained by the Observer, reads. “During this time, at the direction of the chair of the board, the health system’s experienced executive team will continue to provide strong leadership in his absence.”
Mr. Nagowski became CEO of the health system in 2008.
