Broward Health appoints new CIO

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Broward Health tapped 17-year information management veteran Kathy Ross as its new CIO.

Ms. Ross most recently served as CIO of Stony Brook Medicine in Stony Brook, N.Y. She also devoted 10 years of her career to the role of market CIO at Ascension Health in St. Louis, Mo., and has served as vice president and CIO of Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort, S.C. Prior to her CIO roles, she also served as the information systems and telecommunications manager at Westside Regional Medical Center in Plantation, Fla.

In her new role, Ms. Ross will be responsible for managing IT functions and implementing systemwide solutions at Broward Health, such as medical review, office automation, voice and data telecommunications and technical computing systems.

“As a seasoned healthcare executive with extensive experience in complex healthcare systems, Kathy has continually demonstrated the ability to drive complicated business and technical initiatives with a focus on improving quality and patient experience,” Beverly Capasso, president and CEO of Broward Health, said in a news release. “We welcome Kathy to our leadership team and look forward to her contributions.”
