Brigham and Women's new chief medical officer

Charles Morris, MD, has been named chief medical officer of Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He has served in the role on an interim basis since last November.

Dr. Morris, a practicing general internist, will lead Brigham and Women's Hospital, Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital and the Brigham and Women's Physician Organization. He has cared for patients for more than 20 years at Brigham and Women's and is well known for his leadership efforts across the Mass General Brigham system, according to a Sept. 19 news release.

Dr. Morris succeeds Sunil "Sunny" Eappen, MD, who exited the CMO role at Brigham and Women's last fall to become president and CEO of the Burlington-based University of Vermont Health Network.
