Boston Children’s Hospital COO takes on president’s role: 5 notes

Boston Children’s Hospital appointed Kevin B. Churchwell, MD, president, splitting up the top post at the hospital.

Here are five notes:

1. Dr. Churchwell is COO of the hospital, and he will serve as president in addition to his current role, effective immediately.

2. Sandra L. Fenwick will continue to serve as the hospital’s CEO.

3. Dr. Churchwell has worked at Boston Children’s since 2013, and he served as the Robert and Dana Smith Associate Professor of Anesthesia at the Harvard Medical School in Boston.

4. Prior to that, he was CEO of Nemours / Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del.

5. Dr. Churchwell completed his pediatric critical care fellowship at Boston Children’s.

“Dr. Churchwell’s promotion is recognition of his outstanding leadership, as well as part of our ongoing efforts to align senior management responsibilities to the ever-expanding internal and external challenges and demands on the hospital,” said Ms. Fenwick.
