Julie Quirin, president of Saint Luke’s — the West region of St. Louis-based BJC Health — plans to retire March 1 after nearly three decades with the system.

Ms. Quirin has served as president since 2023, overseeing operations across Saint Luke’s acute-care hospitals, ambulatory clinics and post-acute functions, along with its physician enterprise, nursing administration and other system services, according to a May 4 news release.

During her tenure, she guided Kansas City, Mo.-based Saint Luke’s Health System’s integration with St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare as part of the January 2024 merger that created a now $12.1 billion system. The merged organization rebranded as BJC Health in November 2025.

As president, Ms. Quirin also launched a new service-line approach that improved quality and reduced variation. She has advanced care access and supported community health by providing free gun locks, sponsoring “food as medicine” programs and focusing on youth development.

Ms. Quirin joined Saint Luke’s in 1997 and has held multiple leadership roles, including senior vice president and COO of Saint Luke’s Health System and CEO of Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City.
