“This is the beginning of a new chapter. I plan to continue my work with innovation and improving the health and well-being for organizations and communities, and would like to share what I’ve learned as a CEO with future generations of leaders,” said Mr. Newbold.
Mr. Newbold spearheaded the creation of Beacon Health System, which was formed through the affiliation of South Bend-based Memorial Hospital and Elkhart (Ind.) General Hospital in 2011.
Additionally, during his tenure, Elkhart General Hospital completed an $83 million surgery center expansion and Beacon became the first Indiana hospital to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
Mr. Newbold will remain at the health system until the end of 2017 to ensure a smooth leadership transition. Hospital COO Kreg Gruber is succeeding him. Mr. Gruber previously served as president for Memorial Hospital, Elkhart General Hospital and Beacon Medical Group.
