Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center names new president: 4 things to know

CHI St. Luke’s Health–Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston has appointed Gay Nord as president, effective Oct. 3.

Here are four things to know about Ms. Nord.

1. She most recently was president and CEO of Methodist Hospital in San Antonio for five years. Methodist is part of San Antonio-based Methodist Healthcare System, a partnership between Methodist Healthcare Ministries and Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America.

2. During her tenure at Methodist, Ms. Nord, in collaboration with Methodist cardiologists, helped develop several new service lines including the adult congenital heart program, the cardio-oncology program and the structural heart program.

3. Prior to Methodist, Ms. Nord was CEO of HCA’s Overland Park (Kan.) Regional Medical Center.

4. As she takes on her new role, William Brien, MD, who was interim president, will resume his role as vice president of medical operations and chief clinical officer at Baylor St. Luke’s.
