Bayfront Health-St. Petersburg taps John McLain as CEO: 4 notes

Bayfront Health-St. Petersburg (Fla.) named John McLain CEO, effective July 17, according to a Tampa Bay Times report.

Here are four notes:

1. Most recently, Mr. McLain served as CEO of Venice (Fla.) Regional Bayfront Health.

2. He resigned from his role at Venice Regional in May, intending on taking a new position at a hospital in North Carolina. The report notes “through a Bayfront spokeswoman, he declined to comment on what happened.”

3. He is assuming the top post at Bayfront Health-St. Petersburg at a time of  financial turmoil, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Over the coming year, the hospital may lose $8.5 to 10 million in state funding.

4. Mr. McLain succeeds Kathryn Gillette, who is retiring.
