Banner taps COO for 2 hospitals

Ajla Sutkovic has been appointed COO of Banner Baywood Medical Center and Banner Heart Hospital, both in Mesa, Ariz., effective in July.

Ms. Sutkovic looks forward to partnering with physicians, leaders and frontline teams to strengthen culture and improve patient experience, she wrote in an Aug. 3 LinkedIn post.

“What has impressed me most isn’t just the quality of care — it’s the culture,” she said of the hospitals’ teams. “Every conversation has reinforced that our greatest strength is our people. The dedication, resilience, and commitment I see every day are what truly drive outstanding patient care and operational excellence.”

Ms. Sutkovic previously served as deputy COO beginning in May 2023, according to her LinkedIn profile. Before that, she was director of acute rehab, respiratory services and vascular access.
