Johnson City, Tenn.-based Ballad Health appointed two chief nursing officers and two chief medical officers across six of its 20 hospitals in Tennessee and Virginia, according to a May 28 news release.
Chief nursing officers
Kristen Looney, RN, was named CNO for Holston Valley Medical Center and Indian Path Community Hospital, which are both in Kingsport, Tenn. Ms. Looney has served Ballad Health for 16 years in several roles, including patient care technician, emergency department nurse and, most recently, director of nursing for both hospitals.
Nikki Vanburen, RN, is now CNO for four Virginia hospitals: Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Lee County Community Hospital in Pennington Gap, Dickenson Community Hospital in Clintwood and Norton Community Hospital. Ms. Vanburen most recently served as director of patient care services at Bristol (Tenn.) Regional Medical Center.
Chief medical officers
Jesse Sulzer, MD, PhD, has been selected as CMO for Holston Valley Medical Center and Indian Path Community Hospital. Dr. Sulzer will continue serving as CMO of Johnston Memorial Hospital while the system conducts a national search for that role.
Jamie Bartley, DO, was named CMO for Russell County Hospital in Lebanon, Va., and Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Va. Dr. Bartley will continue serving in his current role as CMO of Bristol Regional Medical Center.
