Adia Ross, MD, has been appointed president of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point (N.C.) Medical Center, effective March 22.

Dr. Ross joined High Point Medical Center in September as chief medical officer. In that role, she led improvements in quality, safety and patient experience, while increasing neurosurgery volume and improving operating room efficiency, according to a March 9 news release from Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist that was shared with Becker’s.

As president, Dr. Ross will oversee strategic direction, operational and financial performance, and safety and quality initiatives at the hospital. She will also lead efforts to expand specialty clinical services, education programs and community partnerships across Guilford County.

She succeeds Jim Hoekstra, MD, who will retire at the end of March after 22 years with Wake Forest Baptist.
