AtlantiCare names interim CEO

Michael Charlton was named interim president and CEO of Atlantic City, N.J.-based AtlantiCare.

Mr. Charlton is former chair and current member of the health system’s board of trustees. He will serve as AtlantiCare’s interim president and CEO during a search for a permanent successor for Lori Herndon, BSN, RN, according to an April 11 news release. 

Ms. Herndon is retiring at the end of June after a 40-year career with the health system. AtlantiCare said Ms. Herndon will transition her CEO responsibilities on May 31 and work with the board and health system leaders as needed to support the transition until her retirement date.

Mr. Charlton will take the helm on June 1.
