Ms. Herndon will retire after a 40-year career with the organization, including seven years at the helm, according to a March 8 news release.
“Lori’s impact on AtlantiCare and her leadership in the hospital has been far-reaching. She has provided steady and solid leadership through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while expanding clinical services and programs in our region,” Board Chair David Goddard said in the release.
Ms. Herndon joined AtlantiCare as a critical care staff nurse in 1983. She also held roles as hospital administrator and COO before becoming president and CEO of AtlantiCare in July 2016.
AtlantiCare said Ms. Herndon will transition her CEO responsibilities on May 31 and work with the board and health system leaders as needed to support the transition until her retirement at the end of June.
