Ascension selects 1st chief community impact officer: 5 notes

St. Louis-based Ascension appointed Tamarah Duperval-Brownlee, MD, senior vice president and chief community impact officer, a newly created role, effective March 4.

Five notes:

1. Dr. Duperval-Brownlee is currently Ascension's vice president of care excellence.

2. She also has experience serving as president of medical affairs and CEO of clinical operations/CMO at Lone Star Circle of Care in Georgetown, Texas.

3. She has previously served as clinical assistant professor in family medicine at Texas A&M Health Science Center in Bryan.

4. Dr. Duperval-Brownlee holds a master of public health degree from Boston-based Harvard University School of Public Health and a physician executive MBA from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

5. In her new role, she will spearhead the development and implementation of strategies to improve care in communities within Ascension markets, such as health villages that encourage collaboration between healthcare and non-healthcare partners.
