Ascension's Tennessee ministry names new COO: 5 things to know

Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health, a ministry of St. Louis-based Ascension, has named Paul E. Cleckner COO. 

Here are five things to know about Mr. Cleckner.

1. He begins his new role Aug. 8.

2. He joins Saint Thomas Health from Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health, where he was vice president of operations for LifePoint's Eastern Group.

3. During his tenure with LifePoint, Mr. Cleckner oversaw operations for seven hospitals in South Carolina, Central North Carolina and Georgia, according to Saint Thomas Health.  

4. Previously, Mr. Cleckner also was vice president of business transformation for LifePoint and was responsible for restructuring the company's clinical business informatics function and facilitating the design of LifePoint's National Quality Program between LifePoint and Raleigh-Durham, N.C.-based Duke Medicine.

5. Mr. Cleckner earned a bachelor's degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn., and received his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville.
