St. Louis-based Ascension has appointed Samson Jesudass, MD, as post-acute chief clinical officer, effective in late March.
In the role, Dr. Jesudass will oversee clinical operations across the system’s post-acute and at-home services, including PACE, Ascension Living, home health and rehabilitation, according to an April 6 system news release.
He will be responsible for clinical strategy, quality standards and care model implementation, with a focus on improving outcomes, reducing readmissions and strengthening coordination across the care continuum.
Dr. Jesudass previously served as chief clinical officer for Ascension Texas, where he oversaw 13 hospitals and a physician group supporting more than 4,000 physicians and 1,500 advanced practice providers.
Ascension said the appointment supports efforts to enhance quality, access and integration across its post-acute and at-home services. The move comes as health systems increasingly formalize post-acute leadership, including roles dedicated to overseeing care transitions, partnerships with skilled nursing facilities and coordination across the care continuum.
