William McClain was named chief administrative officer of Helena Hospital in Helena-West Helena, Ark., effective Oct. 1.
Mr. McClain will retain his role as administrative director of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences East Regional Campus in Helena-West Helena, according to a Sept. 28 news release.
He joined the campus, then known as UAMS Delta AHEC, as business manager and was promoted to administrative director in 2020, according to the release. He previously spent 10 years in inventory control for Fayetteville, Ark.-based Lindsey Management.
“William has established roots in the Delta,” Brian Jones, DHSc, UAMS vice chancellor for regional campuses, said in the release. “He recognizes how critical Helena Hospital is to both local healthcare needs and the economy.”
UAMS signed a co-management agreement with Helena Hospital in June, and Dr. Jones agreed to temporarily lead the hospital’s day-to-day operations shortly afterward, the release said.
Little Rock-based UAMS is the state’s only health sciences university and its largest public employer, with about 12,000 employees, including 1,200 physicians.
