Andy Crowder named CIO at Scripps Health

San Diego, Calif.-based Scripps Health appointed Andy Crowder CIO and corporate senior vice president on Wednesday.

"Andy is a seasoned IS executive who brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from his years of working in large healthcare systems," said Scripps' President and CEO Chris Van Gorder. "We are confident he is the right person to build on Scripps' existing IS strengths and accomplishments, and to provide leadership for Scripps' success going forward."

Below are six things to know about the company's new CIO:

1. Mr. Crowder has nearly 30 years of IT experience.

2. Mr. Crowder comes to Scripps from Portland-based MaineHealth where he served as senior vice president and CIO.

3. Mr. Crowder also served as CIO for Orlando-based FloridaHospital and Altamonte Springs, Fla.- Adventist Health System.

4. Mr. Crowder led the successful Epic implementation at MaineHealth.

5. Scripps is currently working with Epic on the design of its integrated enterprise EHR, slated to go-live in mid-2017. The system will replace Scripps' existing ambulatory, inpatient and revenue cycle management systems.

6. Mr. Crowder will start at Scripps Jan. 18, 2016.
