Jason Mouzakes, MD, was appointed president and CEO of Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center Hospital, according to a March 5 health system news release.

Dr. Mouzakes is a veteran of the 766-bed hospital, which anchors Albany Med Health System. He is being promoted to hospital CEO from executive vice president and hospital general director.

As hospital CEO, Dr. Mouzakes will oversee hospital operations, clinical strategy, workforce development, and quality and safety performance, the release said. He will also play a key role in advancing First Choice 2030, the health system’s long-term strategy focused on quality, clinical excellence, access and academic growth.

His promotion follows 35 years at Albany Medical Center as a student, resident, ear, nose and throat surgeon, founder of the ENT department, and professor of otolaryngology and pediatrics at Albany Medical College, according to the release. He has served as executive vice president and hospital general director since 2024.

During his tenure, he has helped advance operating room utilization improvements, implementation of Epic across the health system and integration of Albany Med Health System, the release said. He previously served as chief of the division of otolaryngology and section chief for pediatric otolaryngology before leading ENT to become a standalone department.
